Anthony J. Judware

pMassena: Anthony J. Judware, age 95 of County Route 43 Louisville, passed away at his home on January 11, 2018. Friends and family may be received on Sunday Jan. 14, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-8 pm at Phillips Memorial Home in Massena. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday Jan. 15, 2018 at 11:00 am at St. Mary’s Church. Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery in the spring. /pp Anthony was born on October 7, 1922 in Bangor, NY, the son of Henry and Mildred (Oakes) Judware./pp He married Gladys O’Brien on April 28, 1943 at St. Joseph’s Church in Malone; Mrs. Judware predeceased him on May 5, 2002. He joined the U. S. Army station in Papua New Guinea, and upon discharge he went to work for Hyde Pluming in Saranac Lake until he moved to Massena in 1950. He worked at ALCOA as a pipefitter for many years before going to work for GM Powertrain. He worked there for 28 years as a pipe fitter, retiring on July 1, 1986./pp Anthony and his late wife loved to camp, and he was a charter member of the Eskimo Chapter of the Empire State Travel Trailer Camping Club. Their favorite campgrounds were Coles Creek State Park and Fish Creek State Park, and they wintered in Florida for 15 years. Anthony enjoyed traveling the country but loved the Adirondack Mountains most of all. /pp At one time, he was a member of the VFW, and in younger years he enjoyed bowling in leagues. He could fix just about anything and spent many happy hours of his retirement puttering on projects around the house. Family was most important to him, and he loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, rarely missing a concert, game, or special event./pp He is survived by two daughters, Toni and Jerry Shaw of Norfolk, and Peggy Judware and partner Mark Mitchell of Ogdensburg; seven grandchildren, Shelley and husband Jason Howard, Bobbie Paquin-Reese and husband Josh, Cora and husband Dean Meloney, Jason Shaw and partner Rachael Beckstein, Kyle and wife Bethany Coffin, Tyler and wife Alicia Coffin, and Abbi Coffin and partner Hector Hernandez; five great grandchildren, Jake, CJ, Parker, Makenna, and Q; and three great great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Wayne, and three sisters, Shirley, Sandra and Jean, and many nieces and nephews. /pp He was predeceased by an infant son, Anthony Joseph, his daughter Donna and son in-law Robert Paquin; and brothers, Lloyd, Woody, Roger, Ronald, Willis, Gary. /pp Anthony was a communicant of St. Mary’s Parish, and was an usher and altar server at daily Mass.
